Day 1 (L,D) HOME, BROOME
Flights from home ports bring us to the beachside resort town of Broome. Time to get to know your fellow travellers over lunch prior to arriving at the Oaks Broome Resort, our home for the next six nights. Unpack, relax or explore before dinner at the Resort.
Day 2 (B,L,D) DEEP WATER PORT, CHINATOWN, HISTORY MUSEUM, SUNSET DINNER
This morning we visit the Broome Deep Water Port located in Roebuck Bay then continue to Chinatown with time to browse the shops. Following lunch we visit the Broome Historical Museum featuring many exhibits based around the local Pearling industry. There is time back at our resort before enjoying the famous Broome sunset with dinner overlooking Cable Beach.
Day 3 (B,L,D) WILLIE CREEK PEARL FARM, JAPANESE CEMETERY
Today we tour the Willie Creek Pearl Farm, located on a picturesque tidal estuary. Watch oyster seeding and cruise the calm waters to observe pearl oysters up close. Lunch here before returning to Broome to view the Japanese Cemetery where some 700 divers are buried, such was the dangerous occupation of pearl diving.
Day 4 (B,L,D) COURTHOUSE MARKET, GANTHEAUME POINT
Today is Broome market day, located in the shade of the trees surrounding the historic Courthouse. Browse the varied stalls selling local produce. After lunch we travel to Gantheaume Point, spectacular coloured rocks with the blue waters as a backdrop make this a photographer’s delight. Time here for a stroll to absorb the beautiful surroundings.
Day 5 (B,L,D) DERBY
A leisurely travel day as we venture into the Western Kimberley to Derby, which is situated on a narrow peninsula and has Australia’s highest tidal range, up to 12 metres. We stop at the Boab Prison Tree, Myalls Bore, the longest cattle trough in the world, and finally Old Derby Gaol. Following lunch on the historic Derby Jetty there is time here to watch the tidal flow before we return to Broome.
Day 6 (B,L,D) SCENIC FLIGHT, MANGO FARM, 12 MILE BIRD PARK
A highlight today as we take a scenic flight over the magnificent coastline of Town Beach, Cable Beach, Roebuck Bay, Willie Creek and Gantheaume Point. Late morning we drive out of town to The Mango Place, a delightful property. Whilst eating lunch outdoors under the shady trees, see the extensive range of unique mango products. We stroll through the aviaries at 12 Mile Bird Park prior to returning to Broome.
Day 7 (B,L) BROOME, HOME
This morning we transfer to Broome Airport for our homeward flights, completing our relaxing holiday in this remote, yet spectacular north-western corner of Australia.
