Day 1 (L,D) HOME, HERVEY BAY
We fly to Fraser Coast Airport and where we are board our coach for the short journey into the coastal city of Hervey Bay for lunch. Mid-afternoon we check in to our home for the next six nights, the seaside Oceans Resort, a superb location directly opposite the Foreshore.
Day 2 (B,L,D) HERVEY BAY
A later start as we visit the interesting Hervey Bay Regional Art Gallery. Time to stroll along Urangan Pier, one of the longest in Australia. Enjoy lunch nearby and time to explore the surrounding parklands. During the afternoon we visit the Australiana Cottage Crafts and Herb Farm. A unique experience, see an impressive range of quality locally crafted displays, friendly farm animals, native birds, wildlife and bees. Afternoon tea before we return to our resort.
Day 3 (B,L,D) FRASER ISLAND
An early start for the full day tour to World Heritage-listed Fraser Island with untamed wilderness and unique flora and fauna. Travel in our air-conditioned purpose-built 4WD bus with panoramic windows. We view the majestic Coloured Sands, the pristine waters of Lake Garawongera and beautiful Eli Creek. Note: Reasonable fitness is required to access the 4WD vehicles, which travel over various terrains. Some walking over uneven surfaces is also required to enjoy your day on Fraser Island.
Day 4 (B,L,D) BROOKLYN HOUSE, NEPTUNE’S REEFWORLD
After a leisurely breakfast we enjoy a guided tour and Devonshire Tea at Brooklyn House, the childhood home of Dame Annabelle Rankin, recognised as a pioneer in Australian women’s politics. A short drive brings us to Neptune’s Reefworld an all-natural aquarium home to a large variety of beautiful soft and hard corals, tropical and reef fish, sharks and large green sea turtles. Lunch here today prior to enjoying some free time at your leisure in Hervey Bay.
Day 5 (B,L,D) TIN CAN BAY, RAINBOW BEACH
Heading south this morning we travel to Tin Can Bay for morning tea. At nearby Rainbow Beach we embark on a tour of the Sandy Straits with views of Fraser Island and the Lighthouse and, hopefully, some encounters with the locals – dugongs, turtles, crabs, stingrays and dolphins. A light lunch at Double Island Point before returning to Rainbow Beach and then to Hervey Bay.
Day 6 (B,L,D) GREAT SANDY REGION BOTANIC GARDENS, HERVEY BAY HISTORICAL VILLAGE
We visit the Great Sandy Region Botanic Gardens situated on 6,000 year old foreshore dunes which displays plants of the region and includes a rainforest area, bush chapel and orchid house. Light lunch followed by a visit to the Hervey Bay Historical Village and Museum. Time to view household items and farming implements used in the 1800’s. Later we meet for our farewell dinner together at one of Hervey Bay’s charming restaurants.
Day 7 (B,L) HERVEY BAY, HOME
Following breakfast and time for a stroll or last minute shopping we gather for morning tea together before returning to the Fraser Coast Airport. Here we join homebound flights completing our relaxing and most enjoyable stayput holiday in picturesque Hervey Bay.
