Kangaroo Island to Melbourne

Day 1 (L,D) HOME, ADELAIDE, KINGSCOTE
Today we fly to Adelaide, continuing to Kingscote on Kangaroo Island. We transfer to the Aurora Ozone Hotel facing the foreshore, our home for the next three nights. Time to settle in before we view the entertaining Pelican feeding at Kingscote Wharf, prior to dinner at our hotel.
Day 2 (B,L,D) SEAL BAY, RAPTOR DOMAIN, HOPE COTTAGE
We start our day with a visit Seal Bay and join a guided walk on the beach, home to around 500 sea lions. There are also good views from the cliff top boardwalk, if you wish. Morning tea follows at Raptor Domain where we view the amazing “Birds of Prey” free flight presentation. Following the show we return to Kingscote for lunch. Later we visit Hope Cottage Museum a fascinating insight into Kangaroo Island’s heritage.
Day 3 (B,L,D) FLINDERS CHASE NP, THE REMARKABLES
A leisurely morning drive as we travel to the far west of the island to Flinders Chase National Park. Enjoy lunch in the Chase Café prior to exploring the iconic highlights of this spectacular park. See The Remarkables, a huge rocky outcrop of weather sculptured granite boulders perched 75 metres above the sea. Cape de Couedic features a historic lighthouse and Admirals Arch, home to a large colony of New Zealand fur seals. A memorable day!
Day 4 (B,L,D) KINGSCOTE, PENNESHAW, CAPE JERVIS, MCLAREN VALE
An unusual attraction (and delicious for some) the Island Pure Dairy, with a dairy flock of 1,200 milking sheep. Enjoy tastings here if you wish. On to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery for a tour and lunch. This afternoon we farewell this delightful island as we join the ferry from Penneshaw to Cape Jervis. On arrival we travel to McLaren Vale and our home for two nights, the Serafino Winery.
Day 5 (B,L,D) MCLAREN VALE, VICTOR HARBOR
A relaxing day in nearby Victor Harbor as we take a horse drawn tram ride to Granite Island and marvel at the majestic views from the Bluff. We then visit the Encounter Coast Discovery Centre on return to the mainland. Following lunch, this afternoon is at your leisure.
Day 6 (B,L,D) MCLAREN VALE, THE COORONG, KINGSTON SE, ROBE
Today we make our way to historic Strathalbyn and Wellington where we take the punt across the Murray River. Our journey takes us past Lake Alexandrina and Lake George on our way to Meningie and the expansive Coorong National Park, the wetlands are home to many significant and endangered flora and fauna. We travel through Kingston SE prior to reaching the coastal town of Robe and our home for tonight, the Robe Haven Motel.
Day 7 (B,L,D) ROBE, BEACHPORT, MILLICENT, MOUNT GAMBIER
Today we explore the seaside villages of Robe and Beachport before viewing the amazing Woakwine Cutting and Bowman Scenic Drive. Lunch in Millicent followed by a visit to the Millicent Living History Museum, an extensive display of local artifacts. We arrive in Mount Gambier and our home for two nights, the Commodore on the Park.
Day 8 (B,L,D) MOUNT GAMBIER, TANTANOOLA CAVE
A leisurely morning spent visiting two attractions unique to Mount Gambier as we view the famous Blue Lake and stroll the stunning sunken Umpherston Gardens. At nearby Tantanoola we tour the easily accessible Tantanoola Cave, an amazing single chamber cave formed from pink and brown limestone. Our enjoyable day concludes with some free time in Mount Gambier.
Day 9 (B,L,D) PORTLAND, PORT FAIRY, WARRNAMBOOL
Our journey takes us through the town of Nelson on the Glenelg River to Portland. Here we ride the Portland Cable Tram along the scenic shoreline followed by a light lunch. We continue to the historic fishing village of Port Fairy with some time to view the many heritage buildings. Our home tonight is the Quality Suites Deep Blue Warrnambool.
Day 10 (B,L) WARRNAMBOOL, COLAC, GEELONG, MELBOURNE, HOME
Our holiday draws to a close as we travel inland along the Princes Highway stopping in Geelong for a delicious farewell lunch. Time to bid farewell to our fellow travellers upon arrival into Melbourne completing an enjoyable coastal journey.
