Renmark Rose Festival

A holiday with a difference combining the scenic beauty of the Murray River, the manicured vineyards, church spires and small villages in the Barossa Valley and Renmark’s superb Roses!

The best way to see any river is to travel on it and the Murray Princess is the best way to enjoy the Murray River. Natural history, scenic beauty with towering gorges and quiet backwaters, plus on shore excursions, all combine for a memorable holiday. All cabins and staterooms have private ensuites and are airconditioned, as are the bar, lounge and dining areas. Tea and coffee are always available in the Paddlewheel Lounge, 24 hours a day. A lift operates between main decks, including all cabins and bar, lounge and dining areas. Some areas are accessible only by stairs.

Seventeen Rose Festivals bear testimony and in 2012 the 18th Rose Festival will again delight garden lovers and, in particular, those who love roses. The festival offers a wide variety of activities and open gardens.

Day 5 (B,L,D) LYNDOCH

Later we visit Spinifex Arts and Crafts.

Day 6 (B,L,D) LYNDOCH, RENMARK
We join the Sturt Highway and travel to Waikerie, morning tea stop, and on to Renmark on the Murray River. The name is an aboriginal derivation which means red mud. The town was born in 1887 and was Australia’s earliest irrigation area, founded by George and Ben Chaffey. During the afternoon we visit a local rose garden overlooking Nardoo Lagoon, followed by traditional Victorian Afternoon Tea. Home for two nights is the 4-star Renmark Golf and Country Club. Settle in, relax and enjoy dinner together.

Day 7 (B,L,D) RENMARK, LOXTON
Today we take a short journey to Berri, view the Community Mural, a depiction of life in the area, 6 metres high and 50 metres long. At Loxton stroll through the Memorial and Gladys Hentschke Gardens, both large rose gardens. We also visit Loxton Historical Village, with over 35 fully-furnished buildings and displays. During the afternoon we visit the Frank Harding Gallery, which houses an extensive collection of his art and Australian memorabilia.

Day 8 (B,L) RENMARK, ADELAIDE, HOME
We return to Adelaide, with lunch on route, for mid-afternoon flights home. Melbourne passengers will be transferred to metropolitan home/hotels; interstate passengers may fly direct to their home state or via Melbourne, depending on airline schedules. Thus concludes a most relaxing and enjoyable Murray River Cruise & Renmark Roses holiday.
