Murray Princess Cruise

Day 1 (L,D) HOME , ADELAIDE, MURRAY PRINCESS, CAURNAMONT
Morning flights bring us to Adelaide where we transfer to the river town of Mannum and board the PS Murray River Princess. We set sail mid-afternoon and head upriver towards Caurnamont where we moor overnight. As we cruise under floodlight you may see nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank. Watch for kangaroos, hairynosed wombats, tortoises, egrets and many other species.
Day 2 (B,L,D) SWAN REACH, SUGAR SHACK CONSERVATION PARK
This morning, we have the opportunity to take a wildlife tour. Travelling in smaller groups, we explore the maze of the river and the birdlife here is amazing. For those who choose to stay on-board, you may wish to partake in a game of bocce or compete in the fishing challenge before we cruise upriver to Swan Reach and Sugar Shack Conservation Park. After dinner, enjoy being entertained by the talented crew.
Day 3 (B,L,D) BLANCHETOWN, BANROCK STATION, CADELL, WILSON’S SANDBAR
Continuing upriver we pass through one of 13 locks which maintain the flow and levels of water. On arrival into the township of Blanchetown we transfer by coach to the Riverland town of Waikerie. Enjoy some free time here before travelling to Banrock Station Wine and Wetland Centre. Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch followed by a DVD presentation and wine tastings. Later this afternoon we travel to Cadell where we rejoin the PS Murray Princes. This evening we will moor along the banks at Wilson’s Sandbar.
Day 4 (B,L,D) QUALCO, CAUDO VINEYARD, MORGAN
After breakfast, join the First Officer for a talk in the Sturt Dining Room as we continue cruising upriver to Qualco. From here, the Captain will turn the vessel around and begin our cruise downriver. Day 5 (B,L,D) MORGAN, BURK SALTER BOUTIQUE WINERY
During the 1800’s, Morgan was the home port of hundreds of paddle steamers which carried cargo and passengers up the Murray-Darling River system. This morning we will hop ashore to see the restored wharf precinct which captures the early river trading days. Continuing downriver we moor opposite to the township of Blanchetown for our overnight anchorage. We join a guided tour of Burk Salter Boutique Winery and enjoy wine tasting at the cellar door. After dinner, join in all the fun and excitement of the “Murray River Cup”.
Day 6 (B,L,D) SWAN REACH, SUNNYDALE, NATIVE WILDLIFE SHELTER
Today we cruise to picturesque Swan Reach, first settled in the 1850s and originally the largest of five sheep and cattle stations in the area. We take a guided walking tour and visit the Swan Reach Museum. Continuing downriver after lunch we arrive at Sunnydale, and view the Woolshed Show. Later we visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals are cared for. Tonight’s dinner is a great Aussie Barbecue – cooked and served in a bush setting on the banks of the mighty Murray River.
Day 7 (B,L,D) NGAUT NGAUT ABORIGINAL RESERVE, YOUNGHUSBAND, FAREWELL DINNER
After an optional Bush Tucker Breakfast (additional cost) or a bush walk with the Captain, we slowly cruise downriver past magnificent cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. We reach Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve, one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites for a guided boardwalk tour to view ancient rock carvings and to learn about aboriginal history in the area. We return to the vessel to cruise downriver to Younghusband. Along the way, adventure seekers can also take a speedboat ride. Tonight the Captain and his officers host a spectacular Farewell Captain’s Buffet Dinner. Dress up and dance, if you wish.
