Bay of Islands Stayput Holiday

Day 1 (L,D) HOME, AUCKLAND, BAY OF ISLANDS
Our North Island adventure begins with direct flights to Auckland, connecting with a short onward flight to the stunning Bay of Islands. We transfer to our home for the next six nights, Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands in the seaside township of Paihia.
Day 2 (B,L,D) PAIHIA, KERIKERI, RUSSELL
Today we explore the nearby historic towns of Kerkeri and Russell. We begin our day at Parrot Place, meeting some friendly feathered locals. At Kerikeri Mission we view the two oldest surviving buildings in New Zealand, pay a visit to Makana Chocolate Factory and view the spectacular Rainbow Falls (short, easy walk required). This afternoon we travel by vehicle ferry to Russell and spend some time browsing the waterfront, shops and craft galleries of this historically important village.
Day 3 (B,L,D) CAPE REINGA, 90 MILE BEACH, PUKETI KAURI FOREST
A highlight today as we travel to New Zealand’s northerly western most tip, Cape Reinga, where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean. A significant spiritual location in Maori culture. Other highlights of our day include a visit to Puketi Kauri Forest and an off road adventure along the sand dunes at Ninety Mile beach. A day to remember (please note that we join a public tour for today’s touring).
Day 4 (B,L,D) KERIKERI, WAIPOUA FOREST, TANE MAHUTA
A later start today. We return to Kerikeri and take some time to browse the shops and galleries. After lunch we travel to Hokianga an area steeped in history and offering many natural highlights. At Waipoua Kauri Forest a local indigenous guide takes us to meet the mighty Tane Mahuta (the Lord of the Forest), the largest known kauri tree in the world.
Day 5 (B,L,D) WHANGAREI
This morning we take a leisurely journey south to Whangarei, the capital of the Northland. We visit Kiwi North a unique attraction combining Kiwi House & Whangarei Museum. View the elusive kiwi bird in it’s natural environment. Following lunch some time to browse the shops at Town Basin Marina Village before we stroll the lush ferneries of Botanica Whangarei. Some time at leisure on return to Pahia this afternoon.
Day 6 (B,L,D) WAITANGI TREATY GROUNDS, HOLE IN THE ROCK CRUISE
Spend the morning at New Zealand’s most important historic site, Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where Maori Chiefs first signed their accord with the British Crown. This afternoon we cruise the Bay of Islands, passing through the majestic Hole in the Rock. A farewell dinner at a local restaurant completes a wonderful day.
Day 7 (B,L) PAIHIA, AUCKLAND, HOME
Following breakfast we return to Bay of Islands Airport for the short journey to Auckland. We enjoy a leisurely lunch prior
