Port Douglas

Day 1 (L,D) HOME, CAIRNS, PORT DOUGLAS
Our tropical holiday begins as we fly into Cairns where our coach awaits. We journey north from Cairns, absorbing the stunning scenery along the Captain Cook Highway towards Port Douglas. Our home for six nights is the Oaks Lagoons. Time to unpack, relax or explore prior to dinner.
Day 2 (B,L,D) PORT DOUGLAS
We begin our day with a tour of Port Douglas including a visit to the pristine Four Mile Beach and some time to browse Macrossan Street. Later we take lunch and a guided tour of the Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary with three different and unique environments and home to numerous species from the surrounding rainforest, wetlands, and grasslands. Some free time this afternoon completes an enjoyable, easy paced day.
Day 3 (B,L,D) KURANDA SCENIC RAILWAY AND SKYRAIL
We join the spectacular Kuranda Scenic Railway and journey into the hinterland, passing through World Heritage protected tropical rainforest, beautiful waterfalls and into the breath-taking Barron Gorge on our way up to the “village in the rainforest”. At Kuranda we have time to explore and enjoy a light luncheon before returning to Freshwater on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway Gondola. Spanning 7.5 kilometres over pristine rainforest, we glide just metres above the ancient rainforest canopy.
Day 4 (B,L,D) MOSSMAN, DAINTREE RAINFOREST
Today we head to Mossman for morning tea before arriving in the spectacular Daintree. We tour the Daintree Wild Zoo, a sanctuary for an array of wildlife including rare and endangered species and in the wetlands there is an abundance of native and exotic flora. Lunch in the village, before we quietly glide the Daintree River, maybe spot a crocodile or tree snake. Beautiful world heritage country today!
Day 5 (B,L,D) MAREEBA, PALM COVE
A change of scenery today as we leave the coast and venture inland to the Atherton Tablelands towards Mareeba. Enjoy a visit to Coffee Works and the Mareeba Heritage Museum. Returning to the coast we cross the Macalister Range back to Palm Cove, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Some time to enjoy the quaint village like atmosphere along the ocean facing Williams Esplanade.
Day 6 (B,L,D) PORT DOUGLAS, DICKSON INLET CRUISE
A later start today as we board the Lady Douglas riverboat for a morning cruise along the calm waters of the Dickson Inlet where we explore the mangroves and search for estuarine crocodiles. We take a leisurely lunch at the Reef Marina upon our return to Port Douglas. Later this afternoon take the opportunity for a final browse along Macrossan Street or you may wish to join us for a stroll through Market Park where we view the quaint, historic chapel, St Mary’s by the Sea.
