Murray Princess

The best way to see any river is to travel on it and the Murray Princess is the best way to enjoy the Murray River, a natural icon and river system which has shaped so much of our dry country for millions of years and will continue to be of vital importance to a large part of our country.
Young at Heart Holidays, in association with Captain Cook Cruises, invite you to a 4 day cruise on the Murray. Natural history, scenic beauty with towering gorges and quiet backwaters, plus on shore excursions, all combine for a memorable short break holiday.
All cabins and staterooms have private ensuites and are airconditioned, as are the bar, lounge and dining areas. Tea and coffee are always available in the Paddlewheel Lounge, 24 hours a day. A lift operates between main decks, including all cabins and bar, lounge and dining areas. Some areas are accessible only by stairs.

Day 1 (L,D) HOME, ADELAIDE, MANNUM, PS MURRAY PRINCESS

Following metropolitan home pick up we transfer to Melbourne Airport. Interstate passengers travel either via Melbourne or fly direct to Adelaide. On arrival we transfer to the Adelaide Mercure Grosvenor for lunch. During the afternoon we transfer to Mannum and board the Murray Princess, our home for three nights Enjoy pre-dinner drinks and a Welcome Dinner. We cruise to our mooring at Mundoora and, as the day closes and we cruise under floodlights, you may see a variety of wildlife including kangaroos, wombats, long-necked tortoises, egrets and many other species. The on board entertainer will keep the night-owls company.

Day 2 (B,L,D) PS MURRAY PRINCESS

In 1879 the first bridge to span the Murray was built at Edwards Crossing, later the bustling town of Murray Bridge. A morning guided tour of the historic landmarks and attractions. Following lunch we begin our journey upstream, learn a little of the bounty of food and wine of the area. We moor at Craignook, our dinner and overnight destination.

Day 3 (B,L,D) PS MURRAY PRINCESS

If exercise appeals, join a nature walk and share the secrets of the local fauna and flora. We sail for the big river gorges and 90 metre cliffs of the upper river. At the 207 kilometre mark we turn and head downriver to River View Lodge. Enjoy a backwater wildlife tour. In small groups explore the maze of backwaters, creeks and lagoons. Later an opportunity for capturing a spectacular river sunset, before joining the Captain and crew for pre-dinner drinks and the finale Captain’s Dinner and Dance.

Day 4 (B,L) PS MURRAY PRINCESS, MANNUM, ADELAIDE, HOME

We cruise to Mannum and, after breakfast, bid farewell to the Murray Princess, returning to Adelaide in time for lunch at the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel. Passengers transfer to Adelaide Airport for our return journey. Melbourne passengers will be transferred to metropolitan home/hotels; interstate passengers may fly direct to their home state or via Melbourne, depending on airline schedules. Thus concludes a most relaxing and enjoyable Murray River Cruise.
