Easter in the Hawkesbury

Day 1 (L,D) HOME, SYDNEY, WISEMANS FERRY
Morning flights bring us to Sydney and on arrival we enjoy lunch together before we depart for the Hawkesbury, only an hour’s drive north west of Sydney and a world away with delightful towns and picturesque National Parks. The World Heritage listed convict-built Old Northern Road takes us into Wisemans Ferry and our home for five nights, Retreat at Wisemans. Time to unpack and explore the resort before dinner.
Day 2 (B,L,D) GOOD FRIDAY, WISEMANS FERRY
A later start today as we explore the hamlet of Wisemans Ferry and take a stroll through Wisemans Ferry Park before taking the Webb Creek Ferry across the Hawkesbury.
We wind our way to the village of St Albans, known as the “Forgotten Valley” which has been bypassed by major roads and rail connections. The village has several significant links with the early Colony of NSW, the Old Cemetery containing graves of some “First Fleeters”. Lunch here today and time to explore the village, before returning back to Wisemans Ferry.
Day 3 (B,L,D) TOBRUK SHEEP STATION
A unique experience today as we make the short journey to Tobruk Sheep Station. Relax and enjoy the day as the stockmen and jillaroos of Tobruk guide us through an authentic outback show including a sheep muster and working dog display, sheep shearing, whip cracking and boomerang throwing. Enjoy bush tucker such as damper, Billy Tea and a BBQ lunch. A great day out!
Day 4 (B,L,D) EASTER SUNDAY, FREEMANS REACH, BLUE MOUNTAINS BOTANIC GARDENS
Some time to attend church services this morning if you wish. We travel to Freemans Reach and on to Mount Tomah, in the upper reaches of the Blue Mountains. Following lunch we visit the charming Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens featuring over 40,000 native, rare and exotic plants plus sweeping views over the nearby mountains. Our visit to the gardens will be a real highlight.
Day 5 (B,L,D) LOWER HAWKESBURY RIVER CRUISE
Our Easter Monday is spent in the Lower Hawkesbury as we travel to Brooklyn and join a cruise along the seven islands of the river. We cruise by settlements only accessible by the river and learn of the history of the region and of Australia’s first warship, the HMAS Parramatta which now lies on the shoreline at Bar Point. A relaxing and informative day.
Day 6 (B,L) SYDNEY, HOME
Following a leisurely breakfast we return to Sydney and enjoy a farewell lunch prior to transferring to Sydney Airport. Homebound flights complete our relaxing wonderful Easter getaway at this beautiful destination.
