Day 1 (L,D) KINGLAKE, TRAWOOL, STRATHBOGIE RANGES, YARCK, MANSFIELD
Following metropolitan home/hotel pick up (interstate passengers arrive day prior) we travel through the Yarra Valley to Kinglake, one of the worst affected areas in the Black Saturday bushfires. We pass through Strath Creek, a tiny township whose cricket ground is based on the famous Lord’s Cricket Ground, before arriving at our lunch venue, the Trawool Valley Resort. This afternoon we enjoy a scenic drive though the picturesque Strathbogie Ranges. Afternoon cuppa at Yarck before arriving at our home for the next two nights, the Mansfield Valley Motor Inn.
Day 2 (B,L,D) MANSFIELD, MOUNT BULLER, HOWQUA VALLEY
Some free time this morning to browse Mansfield’s main street or explore the Mullums Wetlands located opposite our hotel. Enjoy morning tea beside the Delatite River before our coach climbs to the scenic village of Mt Buller, in the heart of Victoria’s High Country. Following a brief tour of the resort we enjoy lunch at the Mt Buller Chalet with views to the valley floor below. During the afternoon we descend into the Howqua Valley and visit the townships of Howqua and Gough’s Bay on the shores of Lake Eildon. Later we hand feed the animals and view the lions at the Mansfield Zoo, a unique and enjoyable experience.
Day 3 (B,L) ALEXANDRA, LAKE EILDON, BLACK SPUR, HEALESVILLE
This morning as we begin our journey home we cross Lake Eildon at Bonnie Doon continuing on to Alexandra, in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. Morning tea at Eildon a town built for construction workers during the building of the retaining wall and spillway. We cross the retaining wall and enjoy superb views from the Mt Pinniger lookout. Following lunch, take in the last of the beautiful mountain scenery as we return to Melbourne via the Black Spur and Healesville. Metropolitan home/hotel and airport transfers complete our most enjoyable short break.
