RACV Goldfields Creswick

Day 1 (L,D) MELBOURNE, BALLARAT, CRESWICK
This morning we travel from Melbourne and enjoy morning tea at the Big Apple Tourist Orchard. We continue to Ballarat, Victoria’s largest inland city. Lunch here prior to viewing the exhibits at the Fine Art Gallery. Later we arrive at the historic gold mining town of Creswick and our home for four nights, the RACV Goldfields Resort. Set amongst 20 hectares of forest in the central goldfields, there is time to unpack and relax prior to dinner together at the resort.
Day 2 (B,L,D) BALLARAT
An easy day as we return to Ballarat, one of Australia’s most significant Victorian era boomtowns. Enjoy a stroll through the Robert Clark Conservatory at the Botanic Gardens, adjacent to Lake Wendouree. Lunch at The Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka, located on the historic site of the 1854 Eureka Stockade. Later we spend some time here to view the fascinating displays of iconic objects, exhibits and rare Australian Gold jewellery.
Day 3 (B,L,D) ANZAC DAY, CLUNES
Time this morning to attend a local Anzac Day service before we travel to historic Clunes, the town that sparked the Victorian Gold Rush. On our return to Creswick we visit the Creswick Woolen Mills and see the last remaining coloured spinning mill of its type in Australia.
Day 4 (B,L,D) CASTLEMAINE, GOLDFIELDS RAILWAY, MALDON, HEPBURN SPRINGS
We journey through gold country to historic Castlemaine for morning tea and a guided tour at Buda Historic Home. Late morning we board the Goldfields Railway, an authentic steam train, for the relaxing ride to another of the goldfields historic towns, Maldon. Lunch here and time to explore this quaint township. We return to Creswick via the charming town of Hepburn Springs, where we stop for afternoon tea.
Day 5 (B,L) BRINGALBIT GARDENS, KYNETON, MELBOURNE
After a relaxing breakfast we depart for Kyneton, named after Kineton in England and known for its bluestone buildings. Here we tour Bringalbit Gardens, an excellent representation of Australia’s rural history. Enjoy the delightful gardens, ornamental lake, homestead and outbuildings prior to lunch. Later we join the Calder Highway which takes us back to Melbourne arriving mid afternoon, completing our leisurely Goldfield getaway.
